Slippery roads and lots of snow graced the streets and yards of Mount Vernon and all of Knox County. The T.V. News had predicted the snow would start today around noon and sure enough at 11:35 a.m. the snow started to fall. Within 15 minutes the ground had turned entirely white and the temperature started to drop but it did not get really cold right way. Now 5 hours later the snow is slowing down a bit and I can hear what sounds like sleet on my office windows. For those of you not familiar with sleet...it is pretty much falling ice particles that look like a very fine rain drop but are frozen.
I took some photos earlier today while it was still fairly light outside so you could see how quick the snow came down. If you pay special attention to the photos of the wood deck you will notice how deep the snow got within the first hour...just look at the top rail of the deck. I will update more photos later tonight and maybe I can talk the little monkey into making a snow man tonight. If I get lucky maybe the monkey would be up for some sled riding?
