Thanksgiving is one of the best days of the year.  Not only do we have an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful home cooked meal together but we also have some serious fun.  After our meal we generally play a competitive game of UNO and I usually get my butt kicked by the younger kids at the table.  They take great pleasure in their victory and if I was their age I would look forward to that victory just like they do.  Most Thanksgiving Days after our meal and after our traditional card game we usually go to the Mount Vernon Movie Theatre and enjoy a new movie release.

This year I have a hunch that before our evening movie we will enter into a guitar battle competing against each other playing Guitar Hero.  I am a huge music fan and I really love most 80's music and just about any music that has a great guitar groove.  The Guitar Hero games have been an excellent way for our family to enjoy some fun time together.  This year my daughter plans on winning the guitar battle but I have my sights on taking top honors.

I will soon add Thanksgiving photos and report who is the UNO champion and who becomes our family top rocker in our first year of Guitar Hero Comeptition.

THANKSGIVING DAY UPDATE:

Today was a wonderful day and the weather was absolutely amazing considering it is almost December.  47 Degrees out, sunny and gorgeous blue sky added to an already special day.  My prediction of the kids winning Uno was not on target and Carol won the Uno Championship and grandmother Joan came in second place and everyone had fun.  There were a few times when someone had to draw 12 cards all at once which made the game extra fun and very colorful.

Guitar Hero didn't go quite as expected for Sam and he got out played by Tyler by nearly 30,000 points on a Jimi Hendrix song.  The overall guitar battle came down to Erica and Tyler and I am not sure who the true winner was but they both had fun and they are both VERY competitive.

Katie brought a copy of the newest Chicken Soup for the Soul book and her poem was published on pages 104 and 105.  The local newspaper is about to do a story on her and we are especially proud of her.  She is the youngest member of our family to have ever been published which is VERY cool.

We concluded our day with one last tradition...an evening at the movie theatre.  It was a great Thanksgiving Day spent with family having fun and enjoying the company of each other.
